Description of the Art Project "Windows into the Past"

Relentless time and hostile progress sometimes leave us no time to look back and remember the history. Nowthe history is hidden in museums, archives and libraries. Today anon-governmental organization SribniKryla supported by TM Lvivske has decided to revive the glorious history of Lviv artisans and return it to the streets. This became possible owing to Lvivske beer, a successor of the professional secrets and honourof Lviv brewers.

Project Description:

With support of TM Lvivske, LLC Kubok Leva and Lviv Regional Non-governmental Organization SribniKryla are launching a social art project "Windows into the Past" in the historical centre of Lviv.

Purpose of Art Project "Windows into the past"

The purpose is to reflect and introduce the history of Lviv’s craftsmen to the visitors and city residents through depicting it via the portraits of city artisans that live in Lviv in 17-18th century and to present the portraits at the first in Ukraine open-air art gallery.

Art gallery foresees creation of a series of symbolic portraits (murals) showing representatives of the town guilds from 17-18th century on the facades of several stone buildings of Lviv with respective emblems and symbols. These portraits will be located in so-called "blind" windows of the ground to the third floors at Koliivschyna Square in Lviv.

An International Art En-Plein-Air entitled "Windows into the History" will be conducted as a part of the project. The first in Ukraine open-air art gallery museum on the history of Lviv'sartisans will be created on its completion.
